Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, August 2004 — Janna Anctil, a Wolfeboro resident and sophomore at Brewster Academy, was recently selected to the U.S. National Field Hockey Team. Her selection came following the August Junior Olympic Games where she helped her team to a bronze medal.

Only 16 girls from the United States were named to the Under 16 National Team.

In the spring, Anctil was chosen to compete in the National Futures Field Hockey Tournament in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Based on her play in this tournament, she earned a spot in the 2004 Junior Olympics, held in Des Moines, Iowa.

"I'm really excited. I had no idea that I'd get this far," said Anctil, who will travel with the team to Australia in February.

In 2003, Anctil was chosen as the 2003 Most Valuable Player for the Brewster varsity field hockey team.

"Janna has a bright field hockey future ahead of her, and I have no doubt she will be a well sought after player in the coming years," said Brewster Head Field Hockey Coach Kim Yau.
