Recycled PercussionMay 11, 2006 -- This wasn’t a quiet All-School Assembly. In fact, it was kind of extreme, as far as Brewster All-Schools go. The venue was the Smith Center, and the theme was pure entertainment. The “junk rock” band Recycled Percussion mesmerized the audience with their talent for drumming on recycled junk – junk like 50-gallon barrels, plastic tubs, buckets, and empty steel canisters. They even brought the kitchen sink. The three drummers, along with DJ Dirty Soul, created a mix of lively hip-hop and rock music. It’s the second time Recycled Percussion has performed at a Brewster All-School Assembly. The Manchester, New Hampshire-based group is now on its third tour of U.S. colleges. The group has appeared on NBC’s Today Show and has performed during NBA play-off games. After the performance, band members signed posters, drumsticks, and even a hand or two for students.
