Get Creative at the Art Center

In addition to learning how to convey your viewpoints and ideas through art, you’ll also gain experience and expertise in a wide variety of mediums and techniques. You’ll explore new passions, discover your talents, and learn to look at the world in new ways. To supplement your arts education, you’ll have opportunities to travel off-campus to various museums and art shows to view the work of professional artists.

The study of the arts is an important aspect of a Brewster education. All ninth and 10th grade students take trimester-length course offerings in the disciplines of dance, music, theatre, and visual arts, as well as in the history of the visual and performing arts. Students also expand their artistic horizons through elective offerings in pottery, chamber orchestra, chorus, dance, computer graphics, jazz band, music theory and history, photography, studio art, and theatre. In addition, we offer a course in college portfolio art that allows you to prepare a portfolio of your best artwork to submit with an application to an art college or university.
