The Brewster Recognition SystemEarning Recognition StatusWhat is Recognition? Level 1: Citizenship Each level is associated with a set of responsibilities and a level of recognition that is commensurate with an individual's achievement. The system is built on the concept of equal access to recognition and reward, meaning that the highest level of achievement can, with hard work and effort, be achieved by all students. Students are rewarded for significant effort and consequent growth. The system is not based on a curve or competition between students. If all students attain John Brewster Scholar status, all students are recognized. The criteria for progress are based on the Student Performance Surveys. The surveys are completed by teachers, coaches, and community life parents six times a year. Each survey contains 10 items that are scored on a four-point scale. Each item is designed to measure attainable goals.
