Reconnecting With Your Alma Mater

Brewster Academy alumni are dedicated to ensuring that other generations receive the same quality education that they did. That’s why we offer a robust selection of alumni programs to get and stay connected to Brewster (see below).

Brewster's Alumni and Development Office is located in Cate House on South Main Street, across from Brewster's main campus.

Reunion 2008 - June 6-8

Reunion Weekend was filled with laughter, reminiscing, and renewed friendships. More than 260 alumni and their guests returned to campus for the weekend. Classes from 1930 to 2003 were represented at Reunion, with a tremendous showing from 2003, 5-year reunion, and 1958, 50-year reunion.

Weekend highlights included the new "campus crawl" on Friday night, which showed off the Smith Center, Anderson Hall, and Lord House, the Head of School's residence. On Saturday the Winni Belle cruise from the Town Docks was once again a huge hit, filling the boat to near capacity. Later in the afternoon former teachers Bob and Shirley Richardson, who are writing Brewster's history, hosted a "tea" at the Pinckney Boathouse where alumni shared fond memories and stories from their time at BA.

Saturday evening started off with an amazing performance by world renowned fiddle player Natalie MacMaster and her husband, Donnell Leahy in Anderson Hall. This private alumni concert was followed by the induction of the Class of 1958 into the Golden Bobcat Society in a ceremony that included the awarding of 50th year pins, champagne, and an iMovie created by recent Brewster grad Brooke Webster '08 of the 1958 yearbook.

The annual Reunion Banquet filled the Estabrook and brought the generations of alumni together for a fabulous dinner, laughter, music, and dancing. Alumni Association President Candace Crawshaw '64 shared thoughtful reflections on her Brewster experience and reminded all of us to think about what brings us back to campus. She also shared the exciting news that alumni have contributed $45,000 toward the $50,000 Kravis Challenge (see below). We have until June 30 to complete this matching fund challenge. If you would like to be a part of the challenge and help us achieve our goal, you may make an online gift today!

Sunday morning was a time to gather again at the Pinckney Boathouse for a final meal together. The lake glistened and we were all grateful for the cool breeze. In a moving ceremony by the water, we remembered those alumni and former faculty and staff members who passed on in the past year. Promises of returning next year and for future Reunions ended the weekend.

Are you up for the challenge?
